Tin toy San Francisco Cable ca 1960's Here are some San Francisco tin toy cable cars, made in Japan, ca. 1960's, that I've collected over the years. The other day, when I pulled them out of a box, I noticed that one of the cars showed a passenger reading a article. Most of them have a friction mechanism. Some have bells that ring. The wheels are either rubber or tin.
This great vintage toy cable car reads “San Francisco Cable Car, Main Street R.Y.C.O.” on the sides and the top has a tin piece that reads “Powell & Mason Sts”.
|I have had this toy cable car, Number 504, since I was a child. I vaguely remember that it came in a box covered with pictures of cable cars. It is made of tin. It has a friction motor and a bell that rings when it rolls. Main page picture 2000.|
