  • I recently used Thomas Rug Cleaning Company again to have more rugs cleaned. I took the rugs to work with me and they came and picked them up from me. They spent a few minutes rolling out the rugs and measuring them to put accurate estimates on my invoice of what the cost would be. A couple of the rugs had extensive damage. They asked me if I wanted them repaired. I said I would check with my father who lives abroad in Armenia since they were his rugs and were eventually going to be shipped to him and let them know. They explained to me that I should just have them cleaned because having them repaired in Armenia would be cheaper. That is how honest these people are! They could have repaired them for me and charged me whatever it was and not told me that. When I took my wallet out to give them my credit card # they told me I could pay when they were ready.

When my rugs were ready they called to see where I wanted to have them delivered. I explained that I was leaving town the following day for about 2 weeks and didn't think I could be around to greet the delivery guys. The guy on the phone told me not to worry and that it wasn't a problem and I could call him when I returned and we would then arrange something. That was very nice of them to offer to hold on to the rugs for me. I once again offered to pay over the phone and he told me that I could pay when I got the rugs.

Upon my return I was in the neighborhood and decided to pick up the rugs myself instead of having them deliver it all the way to me Orange County. They were so nice! They kept saying "We deliver to Orange County, we could have brought them", I didn't mention that the guys who picked up the rugs had told me not to do the repairs here and have them done in Armenia to the person helping me just in case, but in our conversation the damage to the rugs came up again and when I mentioned they weren't my rugs and were destined to end up in Armenia he too encouraged me to have them repaired there because it's cheaper there.

    These people are amazing!
I will continue to use them and recommend them to everyone!

  • Wow! I was hesitant to bring in my Moroccan Beni Ouarain rug because I read a couple of bad reviews about getting their rugs back with a bad smell. I am so glad I ignored them because I just received my rug and all the dirt and pet stains are gone. I bought the rug in Morocco and it is seriously better than when I got it. I have another similar rug that I plan to bring to Thomas Rug Cleaning Company and will post before and after pics.

Thomas Carpet & Rug Cleaning - Boulder, CO | Groupon

After reading all of the Yelp reviews, I decided to visit Thomas Rug Cleaning after stuffing the rug in the trunk of my car. It was a bit of a drive from our Malibu home, but I wanted to see their operation first hand. I met Harry, who has been in the rug business all his life, and I was quite impressed with him and his huge family operation.

In the mid 1960's, my mother's uncle drove a large rug all the way across the country to give my mother this rug that would not fit into his small Florida retirement home after downsizing from Philadelphia.

During the past fifty years, I used the rug for about ten years. The rest of the time, the rug lived in a plastic garbage can. I had no idea how much the rug was worth, and the few people I talked to also had no idea where the rug was made or its value.

Harry immediately said, "This hand-made rug was made in Spain in the mid 1930's and would have a value of $5,000 to $10,000 retail, if it were in perfect condition." Most of the fringe was missing, which was caused from housekeepers vacuuming the fringe. Harry said that he did not recommend adding a new fringe because it would lower the value of the rug and make it less authentic. He said he could create a new small fringe from releasing a few rows at each end of the rug. The sides also had some damage, which he could repair. He said that a rug like this would take one person six months to make!

While in the facility, I observed hundreds of rugs--coming, going, stored, and being cleaned. Harry told me that most of the rug dealers in Southern California send their rugs to him to be cleaned. He even had a rug there that had been shipped from Utah.

Originally, I wanted to sell the rug; however, after a long discussion with Harry, I decided to have it cleaned and repaired by him. We set up a delivery date, and he arrived on time at my Malibu location--without charging me an additional amount to deliver to our "remote location."

I also purchased a pad to go under the rug, and it now looks quite lovely in our living room. Even though this eighty year-old rug does not look new, it has a quiet, subtle, antique, hand-made elegance to it.

I highly recommend Thomas Rug Cleaning. Harry is a true professional--besides, he's super tall and handsome!
