  • Hi my name is Jane and I lived just up the street from the Rosebud Doll factory at Raunds. My Dad worked there, and my Mum was an outworker who used to attach the arms and legs to the moulded body.

I am trying to find out about my Rosebud doll. She was bought by my Aunt for my 2nd birthday in June 1947!! She is very cracked and seems to be made of some sort of compressed cardboard, her eyes open and close and she did "mamma" but no longer works. Her fingers are chipped too.t I love her still, but cannot find anymore about her. I would like to get her repaired but am a bit worried as she is quite delicate. She is post war so I assume no plastic was available. She has the Rosebud name on her neck. I would be grateful if you have any information. ThankyouLinda

Baby Gold Star Rose Rosebud Doll has dark brown eyes and hair.

I've been reading your blog about your grandfather and Rosebud dolls and hope you might be able to help. I am trying to find a Rosebud baby doll as a 60th birthday present for my sister. She had one when she was about 6 or 7 years old (so very early 1960s). It had Rosebud on the back of its neck (not its back, if I remember correctly), jointed limbs and bent legs (quite detailed, chubby legs with rolls of fat, like a real baby) and painted on, slightly gingery coloured hair. It was quite soft, matte plastic - not shiny, hard plastic - and had a really ugly face (squished in cheeks and a pouty mouth - not attractive at all but my sister loved it). It also sucked its thumb. It had a yellow, knitted outfit but I don't know whether that was original or whether our mum knitted it. I've looked through hundreds of pictures on google and ebay but can't find one like it. Have you come across anything that might fit this description? Hope you can help.
