  • An unfortunate thing about this new Leapster is that it is not backward compatible. Families who have lots of older Leapster game cartridges won't be able to play those games on this new device.

Another exciting aspect of this newest Leapster is its ability to automatically adjust content to meet the needs of the players—it can keep track of three children and remember where they left off.

  • All stand-alone Didj games are forward-compatible with the new Leapster Explorer handheld; however, the games were not designed for the Leapster Explorer, therefore, they will play without touch screen capability and customization options such as Skill Selector.

I've decided to buy both of my kids Leapsters for Christmas and before I do, I just want to make sure that you can play the games from the original leapster and the leapster Lmax on the new Leapster 2...Thanks.

The kids are always excited about new games.

Also very interesting is that the new Leapster they are selling now only comes with 2 games on it. The had something like 5 games on it. The new Leapsters and the L-max only have 2 games built in that are the Color Corral and Rabbit River. It also has a built in commercial for other games that are available for the unit (gee thanks Leap Frog!). I think it really stinks that they took away the majority of the games like the chicken coop, the birdy bonanza and the shape shop. My son loved those games and they were very educational. And now instead of those learning games, they put a commercial there instead for kids to want their parents to buy MORE GAMES instead.
