  • Yet another piece of shovelware by , Monster Trux Arenas draws its inspiration from Offroad Extreme! Special Edition in the way that identical twins would draw inspiration from each other's facial features. They are, in fact, almost the same game.

Here's the formula that was followed between Monster Trux Arenas and Offroad Extreme: Take what could have been a deeper multi-vehicle experience, and rip the game in half. Take the offroad cars and tracks, package them up, and charge a cool $30. Game one is now called Offroad Extreme! Special Edition. The exclamation point will get casual buyers excited, and the "Special Edition" makes them think the game was so good the first time, the publisher just had to release another one due to popular demand. As for the second half of your game, grab all the monster trucks and levels, keep the same interface, control, and in-game icons, and put it in its own game. Label this one Monster Trux Arenas (with an x, so we know it's totally extreme), and again charge $30.

The two titles are nearly identical. You've got the game gameplay issues, the same sluggish control, the same muddy, sloppy interface, and the same generic music. All HUD icons, the cash system, and boost mechanic are all identical across these two games. In fact, the VO that plays during the title screen of actually says "Monster Trux Extreme." Looks like the people recording the VO even thought Offroad Extreme and Monster Trux were going to be the same game. Or, perhaps, it's just old VO from the PC game.

One thing that is great about Punk Rock is that there are no rules to what you can do. The band Monster Trux is the kind of band that has their own brand of "Skate Rock". We were first introduced to this band out of Chicago, Illinois a few months back by Adam Grossman who is the Propaganda Manager at VISION.

We checked out the CD Adam gave us and we dug it - good call. We found Monster Trux to have a very tight and clean sound that would keep any skate session going all day. The tracks on their latest recording GRIND features themes that tie in their love of monsters and skateboarding. The songs lyrics contain references to Christian Hosoi, Santa Cruz Slimeball wheels, Independent Trucks and much more.

The first track on this 9 song CD starts of with "Svengoolie" sets that pace for this not stop charging album. Followed by "Frankie Goes To Olliewood", "Speed Wheels", "Future Primitive", "Pool Shark", our personal favorite "Shut Up And Skate", "Independent", "Bones Brigade", and concluding with "Monster Show".

After the last track you can hear the Monster Trux guys shredding a ramp. This is one of the funest CD's we have heard in a long time. You will want to add this one to your collection.

Monster Trux Offroad is a racing game developed by and released on .

Monster Trux 2000- The New Thrillenium was a one off event aired on UPN in 2000 which took place at Mesa Park in Fellesmere, Florida. Despite the great racing course (figure eight style course) and truck selection, this is perhaps the most panned event in monster truck history by fans of the sport due to the obvious scripted "drama", the scripted racing and how they portrayed the drivers. What's interesting is despite the obvious wrestling overtones, two previously themed wrestling trucks ( and ) ran under different names. Mainly due to WCW moving from Bigfoot 4X4 to PACE Motorsports. Another side note, this was Pam Vahle's only televised appearance after her divorce from her husband as she went by Vahle instead of Vaters which she had for most of her career.
