Apple has quietly released a new version of the iPod Touch. Known as the iPod Touch 16GB, Apple’s latest device is priced at $229 but surprisingly there’s nothing really new in it, so it’s more a question of : what’s it lacking?
Sources have also confirmed that the iPod touch 16GB variant is likely to be available in the next fortnight or so. On the features front, it features the same 4-inch Retina Display like other variants in the fifth-generation iPod touch as well as an A5 dual-core processor. However, Apple has removed the rear iSight camera though there is a front-facing camera to make FaceTime calls. It can shoot videos in 720p and click pictures at 1.2-megapixel resolution.
This new iPod 16GB also has a microphone on top on the device next to the power button according to the gallery picture instead of being between the camera and LED flash like on the iPod touch with iSight camera and loop
