  • As a reminder for the last thing said, a creature with both Double Strike and Trample, should it kill a blocker after the "First Strike" portion of the damage, will also hit the opponent in the normal damage step.

Note that if the blocking creature dies after first strike damage, the creature with double strike will not deal damage to anything in the normal combat damage step.

  • I received these in a package from Amazon last week. I have been looking forward to both of these blasters since I first came across the toy fair previews of them. I’ve had a plan for that Zombie Strike Slingfire since day one. Its an ambitious prop build that I’ll cover at a later date. For now, lets focus on the Doublestrike.

If you read my last post, then you know how fond I am of the Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot, with its one hand priming mechanism and crisp trigger pull. I was expecting the Doublestrike to be, essentially, a scaled down, two shot version of the Hammershot. This is, sadly, not the case. Due to its design there are three short comings to the blaster.

    Double Strike Capability

It's been suggested to me that double strike capability should be a heavily weighted factor when picking a semi-auto for self-defense and/or concealed carry. It seems to me that this would be a very rare occurrence and if given much weight would disqualify the BHP, 1911 and striker fired pistols.

I can see the concern behind this suggestion but is it really that important?

It's important to me which is why I protect my life with a revolver. You are correct that SA autos do not have this feature. DA/SA autos do, like Beretta 92, CZ-75, SIG-226, HK USP and many others.

For the record, I think with an auto the second strike capability is of little value. A failure to fire in those is almost always going to be caused by no round chambered or the safety is on.

Nerf Zombie Strike Doublestrike, load the blaster with 2 darts.

Doublestrike grants a character a chance to make an additional attack roll with their main hand weapon any time they make a main hand melee attack. The additional roll is made on the target of the initial attack. Doublestrike only applies to melee attacks. (Similar effect for ranged attacks is called .)
