Ticket to Ride is a turn-based game played with trains. You and those you play with will draw route cards. One of the main ways to score points in the game is by building these routes, between two North American cities. Basically the longer the routes the more points you earn but if you don’t reach the goal then the route cards count against you. So there’s a little risk/reward in play that makes it a bit funner. To be honest this could be an a kid game as well but I think what makes it one of the best board games for adults is that adults can dominate the strategy of this game. Although it is super simple to play no adult should ever (purposely) loss to a kid. And I much prefer this version to any of the expansions (don’t waste your time with the European version).

Have you ever played a game and been bursting to yell out the answer even when it's not your turn? Well here's your chance! Each Who, What and Where am I? card has ten clues, and the first player to yell out the correct answer moves one step closer to being the ultimate Smart Ass. Move forward by correctly identifying people, places and things before any of the other players. The first player to reach the target in the center of the board wins. This fast-paced party game requires no specific knowledge base so even if you're a dumb ass you can win! The best party board game for adults and college students.

  • 7 Wonders – There aren’t many list that this game doesn’t show up on. And of course this is going to be on the best board games for adults list if adults like awesome board games. The game’s core play is like drafting cards that you see from all the popular collectible card games. The difference is in 7 Wonders you play the card you choose immediately. This is nice because it means the speed of the game is brisk and the game can play seven people about as fast as it can play three, a trait rarely found in board games. The game features a tremendous amount of variety because, along with the cards being shuffled and different each game, you can play one of 14 different wonders (7 wonders plus an alternate version of each on the back) that can seriously adjust your strategy and how you try to win the game. A great plus of this game is the sense of accomplishment that comes as you build the city and your Wonder using the cards that you choose. Each of the cards represents a building that you’re constructing in your city. Some demonstrate scientific advancement, military power, or the resilience of your economy. The test of a good board game is how often it is played. And this is one that you will come back to over and over again. Actually my biggest complaint with this game. My pieces and cards have worn out!
